Actor Amaechi Muonagor, 61, passes away, leaving fans in mourning.
Amaechi Muonagor, a 61-year-old veteran of Nollywood cinema, passed away on Sunday, and his fans have been in mourning.

Following a lengthy battle with renal illness, the actor famed for his comedic appearances on television went away, and fans took to social media on Sunday to express their sorrow.
Emeka Rollas, the chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, did not immediately answer to calls or texts left on his voicemail on Sunday night, making it impossible to get a response on the actor’s passing.
While expressing his condolences for the actor, social commentator Morris Monye used his X account, @Morris_Monye, to share that donations had been made to support the actor throughout his struggle with illness.
Muonagor was reportedly receiving dialysis due to renal failure.
A few days after the actor went viral with a video in which he raised money for a kidney transplant, word leaked out about his passing.
“Deeply heartbroken by the news of Amaechi Muonagor’s passing,” Monye wrote. He was a gifted Nollywood actor who had an absolutely magnificent presence on our screens.
“We were worried about him as he struggled with health problems and did everything we could to support him in getting treatment in India. This terrible loss serves as a reminder that our nation needs improved healthcare.
The Nollywood comic legend was seen in a social media video earlier, looking ill and pleading with Nigerians for financial assistance. He was seen in bed with a bandage on his chest and could hardly speak.
Seated next him was another actor who clarified that Muonagor required funds to cover the cost of a kidney transplant.
His passing occurs at a time when Nigerians are still grieving over the recent passing of Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu.
In her condolences, X user @Oluomoofderby said, “May his soul rest in peace.” The reason Nigerian leaders employ healthcare systems in Western and Asian nations is that these systems were created.
They are continuously upheld by visionary leadership and political dedication, attributes that are glaringly absent in Nigeria.
Whether you like it or not, everyone in our nation will be impacted by the inadequate healthcare system. We must all get up and demand that Nigeria improve its healthcare system.
@alesolas, a different user, said, “May his soul rest in perfect peace.
Nothing in the nation functions, save for the name Nigeria.
We have lost a legend in Nollywood, commented @mister_ade5. RIP, Amaechi Muonagor, the legend.
From Amaechi Muonagor to Mr. Ibu. We lost both of them in less than a month, wrote @Oladapomikky1.
Muonagor was born on August 20, 1962, and is originally from Idemili, Anambra.
